Venerdi sera nel museo Vittoriano, Roma , nell’ambito dell’inaugurazione della mostra sui 150 anni d’Italia, il Presidente della Repubblica Giorgio Napoletano ha visitato per lungo tempo lo spazio dedicato al Ritratto di Acerenza, di Leonardo Da Vinci detta anche tavola Lucana. Il dipinto è ospitato quale testimonial degli Aeroporti Roma Spa , di Fiumicino, intitolati proprio al Genio Toscano. Il Presidente NAPOLITANO ha definito il dipinto bellissimo. Presente anche la Presidente della Regione Lazio, Renata Polverini, che ha molto apprezzato il dipinto. Enorme la soddisfazione dello staff del Museo Delle Antiche Genti , in particolare del Dott. Nicola BARBATELLI, Ing. Giandomeni Glinni Avv. Raffaello Glinni, che ha coordinato l’iniziativa, e la gionalista Jacqueline J. Jarvis, che per prima ha seguito il ritrovamento .

The Best Comparison: Leonardo 'Lucano's 'Acerenza Portrait' against Francesco Melzi's '1510 Portrait of Leonardo' in red chalk on paper in the Royal collection in Windsor, prove identical after scientific examinations and digital analysis.

A number of things have been discovered:
1. Fingerprint analysis showed a thumb print on the new portrait that is identical to the one on Leonardo's painting 'Lady with the Ermine'
Establishes: that both paintings were in Leonardo's studio
2. On the back of the painting, are two words written in Leonardo's characteristic right to left and upside down: "Pinxit Mea" meaning 'My Painting'
3. The analysis made on the ink says its the same exact ink
that would of been used in the 16th century.

We present you with a worldwide preview of the first results of our 3-dimensional reconstruction of the face of Leonardo da Vinci. Thanks to Orest Kormashow and Helen Kokk from the Univkersity of Tallinn, and Gianni-Raffaello Glinni and Nicola Barbatelli from the Museum of the Ancient People of Lucania (MAPL). Revealed for the first time in 600 years, is a new visage of the genius. This reconstruction was enhanced by three images; two drawings and the painting from Acerenza. Results were extraordinary, confirming a perfect match of the Acerenza visage and that of Francesco Melzi's. More studies are being conducted in Italy with the highest of scientific content. All of this will be demonstrated in the presentation that will take place in Rome in care of the "Leonardo da Vinci Museum" in Piazza del Popolo inside the Bramante exhibit room.

A portrait of Leonardo da Vinci has been found. The portrait, allegedly part of a Lucanian family’s private collection, originates from Lucania itself. This finding is connected with several years of research performed by Nicola Barbatelli, Gianni and Raffaello Glinni and Jacqueline Jarvis. Television director Fabio Tamburini relatively revealed clues of confraternities of Pythagorean doctrine in Lucania, who in the medieval epoch, were operating in that territory. But a difficulty arises given the fact that these confraternities never recorded anything; although it has achieved these considerable results: the discovery of a sacred geometry based on the pentagram integrated into the construction of the Acerenza Cathedral in 1080, and the wooden figure of St. Bernard with an amputated head placed between his feet (in which “quatre de chiffre” is engraved); a noted symbol of cathedral constructors who are part of a confraternity. It is probable that Leonardo’s passion for sacred geometries had been initiated by Luca Pacioli, who coaxed and executed a voyage toward such lands that had witnessed the development and at the same time, the tragic end of the Pythagorean school. Lucanian Ippaso from Metaponto demonstrated in 500BC, the existence of the irrational number by way of studies on the pentacle and the “vesica piscis,” both reoccurring themes in the scientific and artistic research on Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo’s presence in Lucania is confirmed by a chronicle of one of his voyages to Vallo of Lucania, also by the presence of a Florentine family in Acerenza, the Segni family, who according to Vasari, had reported their grand friendship with Leonardo.
This finding is of extraordinary scientific importance because it involves one of the only notable portraits of Leonardo. A deep study is currently in progress directed by one of the utmost experts in the world on Leonardo da Vinci; Professor Vezzosi, who will establish the dating. At the moment, from what current knowledge is held, the painting appears similar to the one hanging today in the Uffizi Museum in Florence Italy; one of optimum workmanship and probably a proceeding of the original painting found.

La Fondazione Carnovale, ente filantropico che promuove lo sviluppo della ricerca e della conoscenza in area soprattutto biomedica, si sta occupando nell’ultimo periodo dei collegamenti fra la ricerca medica con Leonardo da Vinci, allo scopo di evidenziarne intuizioni ancora sconosciute, che risultino possibilmente utili nella coadiuvazione della ricerca per la cura in particolare delle malattie genetiche. A questo scopo il campo che è risultato più affine allo scienziato-artista rinascimentale è stato quello dell’evoluzione dell’Homo Sapiens. In particolare i risultati dell’analisi antropologica della visione pittorica di Leonardo da Vinci sono scaturiti dalla somiglianza impressionante, per non dire dalla quasi sovrapponibilità dei risultati delle ricerche sull’evoluzione del genoma dell’Homo Sapiens con gli studi di Figure Umane e con gli straordinari risultati pittorici di Leonardo da Vinci.
E’ quasi come se il grande Genio Italiano avesse preconizzato 500 anni prima anche i risultati delle ricerche più avanzate di Antropologia del Genoma, che stanno stanno correlando punto per punto i ritrovamenti fossili di ominidi da cinque milioni di anni a questa parte con l’espressione delle loro proteine, in pratica con i loro comportamenti nella savana africana di cinque milioni di anni fa. Così anche la Prospettiva Rinascimentale, rivisitata da Leonardo, viene finalmente correlata alle sue ricerche di anatomia e fisiologia, legando per sempre le sue intuizioni alle vette più alte della ricerca scientifica biomedica.

THE FACE OF LEONARDO DA VINCI

The facial representation in the painting found by Nicola Barbatelli is actually in phases of study by Gianni Glinni and a group of researchers, who are experts in Medieval Art at the University of Tallinn. Here we are presenting only a sneak preview of the notes Mr. Glinni has begun analysing and comparing (as you see in the above image). The hypothesis is whoever actually painted the painting had a model; the same face designed in 1510 by Francesco Melzi. As we can easily detect in the combination empirically created within the notebook at the bottom, considered are two faces which seem extraordinarily congruent. “In particular, Mr. Glinni writes, it’s the eyes, nose, mouth and the furrow beside it, as well as the hairline of the beard that appear all so similar, even a superimposition would be unnecessary.” This simply cannot be dismissed as being coincidental. The tri-dimensional reconstruction of the two faces, pertains to the drawing done by Melzi, the other being the one found by Barbatelli. This enables by means of comparing various parameters, the establishing of an adequacy under a morpho-geometric profile. We may anticipate with all certainty that the newly found Leonardo da vinci painting is depicting a familiar face.

Il VOLTO DI LEONARDO La raffigurazione del volto riprodotto sul dipinto rinvenuto da Barbatelli è attualmente in fase di studio da parte dell’ing। Gianni Glinni e di un gruppo di ricercatori esperti in arte medievale dell’Università di Tallinn। Presentiamo in anteprima gli appunti di Glinni che hanno avviato la ricerca. La ipotesi è che colui che ha dipinto il quadro ha avuto come modello lo stesso volto disegnato nel 1510 da Francesco Melzi. Come si può facilmente notare dall’accostamento fatto empiricamente sul quaderno, i tratti dei due volti sono straordinariamente congruenti. In particolare, scrive Glinni, la proporzione degli occhi, naso, bocca, solco affianco alla bocca, attaccatura della barba sono talmente simili da essere sovrapponibili. Non può ovviamente essere un caso. La ricostruzione tridimensionale dei due volti, quello del disegno di Melzi e quello del dipinto di Barbatelli, permetterà tramite un confronto dei vari parametri di stabilirne la congruità sotto un profilo morfo-geometrico. Si può comunque anticipare con sufficiente sicurezza che si tratta dello stesso volto.

After the first investigation conducted in Florence Italy by international Leonardo da Vinci experts, results prove that this painting has a strong possibility to be the oldest portrait of Leonardo da Vinci in the world, overwriting that of the alledged copy in the Museum of Uffizi. It's almost certain that this painting is the original of the one hanging in the Uffizi museum, and possessing the very best in artistic technique and quality (and we haven't overlooked the likelihood that it could have been created in Acerenza Italy).

Enclosed with the letter of comparative intent, analysis was performed on a wooden slab likely representing Leonardo da Vinci, and bearing on the back this writing:“pinxit mea,” moreover recently recovered in Lucania during the course of reference. The scientific analysis has carried out initial steps, preliminary sketchings to supply information on the dating and the origin of the painting. The first inquiries were carried out by the CIRCE lab (Center for Isotopic Research on Cultural and Enviromental Heritage) in Caserta Italy and the laboratories of the University Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples, in care of researchers from the Department of Science Ambientali of the Second University of Naples and the laboratory of Science and Technology applied to the cultural assets of the University Suor Orsola Benincasa. Both groups make up the head of the Regional Center of mastery for the development and movement of the innovation applied at the Beni Culturali e Ambientali (INNOVA). Up to now analysis carried out XRF (fluorescence x-rays) on varied points of the pictorial layer and dating with a Radiocarbon method of spectrometry of mass with accelerator on micro-fragments of wood withdrawn from the back of the panel. The preliminary results are of extreme scientific interest. In particular, the hypersensitive measurement of the isotopic relation 14C/12C was carried out on three fragments belonging to the central panels and the exterior panel of the painting. Each of the fragments was submitted to chemical attack to eliminate the carbon from the protective layer and for a rate of each, the cellulose was extracted. The six resulting samples emphasized age, radiocarbonic coinciding between them is within the experimental uncertainties , and the probability that the age having been appraised, makes it fall into the second half of the XV century. The outcome encourages a systematic inquiry PLURITEMATICA on the painting of a spacious analytic specter of methodologies that had been entrusted by CRDC INNOVA.

Sono state effettuate analisi scientifiche preliminari tendenti a fornire informazioni sulla datazione e la provenienza del dipinto. Le prime indagini sono state effettuate presso il Laboratorio CIRCE (Center for Isotopic Research on Cultural and Environmental heritage) di Caserta ed i laboratori dell’Università Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli, a cura di ricercatori del Dipartimento di Scienze Ambientali della Seconda Università di Napoli e del laboratorio di Scienze e tecniche applicate ai beni culturali dell’Università Suor Orsola Benincasa. Entrambi i gruppi fanno capo al Centro Regionale di Competenza per lo Sviluppo ed il Trasferimento dell’Innovazione applicata ai Beni Culturali e Ambientali (INNOVA). Sono state finora effettuate analisi XRF (X-ray Fluorescence) su vari punti dello strato pittorico e datazioni con il metodo del Radiocarbonio con Spettrometria di Massa con Acceleratore su micro-frammenti di legno prelevati dal retro della tavola. I risultati preliminari sono di estremo interesse scientifico. In particolare, la misura ultrasensibile del rapporto isotopico 14C/12C è stata effettuata su tre frammenti appartenenti alle tavole centrali ed alla tavola periferica del dipinto. Ciascuno dei frammenti è stato sottoposto ad attacchi chimici per eliminare il carbonio dello strato protettivo e, per un’aliquota di ciascuno di essi, è stata estratta la cellulosa. I sei campioni risultanti hanno evidenziato età radiocarboniche coincidenti tra esse entro le incertezze sperimentali, ed è stata valutata la probabilità che l’età del reperto sia contenuta nella seconda metà del XV secolo. Il risultato incoraggia una indagine pluritematica sistematica sul dipinto mediante un ampio spettro di metodologie analitiche che è stata affidata al CRdC INNOVA.

The resulting evidence found regarding the dating of the Leonardo da Vinci painting will be confirmed on the 17th of March, on St. Patrick’s day (the protector of Ireland). Let’s get ready because if they confirm it from the 1500s, a worldwide scoop is bound to arise!

E' in corso uno studio tecnico-scientifico del dipinto da parte di specialisti di grande prestigio nel settore del restauro. I primi risultati saranno resi noti il 17 Marzo, giorno di San Patrizio protettore dell'Irlanda. Se i programmi verranno rispettati, i risultati saranno presentati in una conferenza stampa che si terrà a Roma il 23 Marzo. Results-- the First Day of the Leonardo da Vinci Expo in Vaglio

The images here demonstrate the physical investigations performed in the nuclear physics Institute in the University of Sant'Orsola Benincasa in Naples. The results of the radiocarbon 14-3 samples from the wooden panels on which the painting was created, give a clear answer to its dating:1400-1500 within a margin lapse of 25 years. This result, together with other analysis already performed on the pigments used in the painting, confirm that the material is from the time period of Leonardo da Vinci. Although art critics continue to express bewilderment on the dating even in the face of unbiased-unrepeatable laboratory analysis, the probability that the painting be coeval to Leonardo da Vinci is now almost for certain. What remains, is the establishing a trait of the painting to a contemporary artist of Leonardo, if it's not to Leonardo himself. In any case, the face in the painting has been actualized by someone who had in front of him, Leonardo da Vinci and it's therefore the true visage. The three dimensionals were performed simultaneously by Orest Kormas Hov at the University of Tallinn, and they confirm that the features on the face are to be considered with designs made by Francesco Melzi and by a disciple of Leonardo who portrayed him on paper which is actually conserved in the Royal Library of Windsor (12300v). The results of this investigation will be published exclusively on this site.

Le immagini mostrano le indagini fisiche svolte nel laboratorio di fisica nucleare dell'Istituo Universitario Sant'Orsola Benincasa di Napoli. I risultati del radiocarbonio 14 su 3 prelievi del legno della tavola sulla quale è stato realizzato il dipinto, danno una chiara risposta per la datazione: 1400-1500 con un margine di errore di 25 anni. Questo risultato, assieme ad altre analisi già svolte sui pigmenti utilizzati nel dipinto, conferma che il materiale è quello del tempo di Leonardo da Vinci. Benchè i critici d'arte continuino a manifestare perplessità sulla datazione anche di fronte ad analisi obiettive di laboratorio ripetibili, la probabilità che il dipinto sia coevo a Leonardo da Vinci è ora quasi una certezza. Resta da stabilire solo l'attribuzione del dipinto ad un artista contemporaneo di Leonardo, se non a Leonardo stesso. In ogni caso il volto del dipinto è stato realizzato da qualcuno che aveva dinnanzi a se Leonardo da Vinci ed è quindi questo il suo vero volto. Le indagini tridimensionali svolte contemporaneamente da Orest Kormashov all'Università di Tallinn, confermano che i tratti del volto sono da considerare quelli disegnati da Francesco Melzi e da un discepolo di L che lo ha ritratto su un fogli attualmente conservato presso la Royal Library of Windsor(12300v). I risultati di questa indagine saranno pubblicati su questo sito in assoluta esclusiva.

Vezzosi, esclude che si possa trattare di un autoritratto e che la realizzazione del dipinto sia successiva a Leonardo stesso; la seconda è più possibilista sulla tesi di un autoritratto di Leonardo. La prima versione basa la propria tesi su considerazioni di natura stilistica; la seconda versione basa la propria tesi sulle indagini fisiche svolte ad oggi sul quadro. Queste ultime indicano senza dubbi che il legno sul quale è stato realizzato il dipinto è databile attorno al 1450 con un margine di errore di +/- 25 anni. Il periodo della tavola è dunque lo stesso di Leonardo. Altre indagini svolte sui colori ad olio usati (ricordiamo che si tratta di un dipinto su tavola di legno) indicano che questi sono compatibili con quelli usati dalle scuole toscane di quel periodo. Un aspetto particolarmente importante è quello di individuare il disegno preparatorio sotto il dipinto. Il laboratorio di fisica nucleare del'Università di Napoli che sta analizzando l'opera, ha individuato il disegno preparatorio realizzato con una china grassa. Altra osservazione a favore dell'autoritratto è che l'assemblaggio della tavola del dipinto presenta forti similitudini con la tavola della "Gioconda". Anche il retro della tavola è particolarmente interessante. E' qui presente infatti una scritta al rovescio: "PINXIT MEA". Secondo Vezzosi la scritta non ha nessun significato essendo maldestra, scritta di recente. C'è da evidenziare che non sono ancora state fatte analisi sull'inchiostro, che la scritta è apparsa solo dopo la pulizia della tavola e che il giudizio stilistico della scritta è una opinione rispettabilissima del dott. Vezzosi, ma pur sempre una semplice opinione personale. Allo stato attuale è indispensabile procedere con le indagini di laboratorio sui materiali e con tutte le analisi che possano chiarire come e quando il dipinto è stato realizzato. Sarà necessario analizzare ad esempio i collanti usati per l'assemblaggio della tavola, analizzare con maggiore approfondimento la composizione dei colori, se sono presenti nei colori componenti organici, come l'albume dell'uovo, che permettano una datazione. Solo allora, con i dati alla mano, sarà possibile affrontare una discussione che non si basi su opinioni personali e riduca il più possibile la aleatorietà dei giudizi. Una cosa è certa, il dipinto conferma una importanza fondamentale negli studi su Leonardo, forse un vero e proprio punto di svolta per conoscere aspetti nuovi ed inediti del grande genio del Rinascimento Italiano.

In the studies that Professor Orest Kormashv of the University of Tallinn is commencing, he was able to develop from the features of the Leonardo Da Vinci visage, a recreation by way of a 3-dimensional plastic model. He uses as a reference, the new Da Vinci painting found. And using a specific program, he worked with a profile designed by Francesco Melzi in 1510. Now the morphological parameters and the proportions of two visages could be compared in an objective way, for the obtainment of a precise geometric reproduction. A processing based on probability for a suitable structure permits accomplishment for judgement with a high degree of confidence, and this in turn, would affirm whether the visage was referring to the same person or not.

This study will provide for the first time, a valid base in which to formulate a shield which wouldn't be based on subjective evaluations any longer. Many scholars believe that the visage designed by Francesco Melzi was a portrayal of the face of the Maestro. With these two visages, that of Melzi and now the "portrait of Acerenza," results must prove they are both referring to the same person... it would be grieviating to continue thinking that all this could be just be an "idea" and idea only. Orest Kormashv dell'Università di Tallinn sta svolgendo sulla fisionomia del volto di Leonardo Da Vinci, consiste nella creazione di un plastico tridimensionale eseguito avendo come riferimento il dipinto ritrovato e una simulazione tridimensionale. eseguito con programma specifico, del profilo disegnato da Francesco Melzi nel 1510. I parametri morfologici e le proporzioni dei due volti possono in tal modo essere messi a confronto in modo obiettivo, ricavando rapporti geometrici precisi. Una elaborazione probabilistica delle congruenze morfologiche permetterà di ottenere una valutazione quantitativa del grado di fiducia per affermare se il volto si riferisce alla stessa persona o no.

Questo studio fornirà anche per la prima volta una valida base per formulare pareri che non siano più basati su valutazioni soggettive. Molti studiosi, ad esempio, ritengono che il volto disegnato dal Melzi sia una "idealizzazione2 del volto del Maestro. Se in due volti, quello del Melzi e quello del "ritratto di Acerenza" dovessero risultare riferiti alla stessa persona, sarà difficile continuare a pensare che si possa trattare di una idealizzazione.
